This white paper tackles a critical question for the agriculture industry: How can farmers meet 21st-century challenges head on and improve productivity and profitability by engaging with farmworkers?

This article discusses learnings from contemporary process improvement and interventions which have successfully resulted in improvements in productivity, quality, on time delivery, retention and job satisfaction in workplaces across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, that can be implemented in Mexican and U.S. agriculture. Key to these interventions is engaging workers and systematically implementing processes and procedures that ensure ongoing worker participation at the worksite. Those growers who successfully make this pivot will be better positioned to address the litany of challenges facing U.S. and Mexican agriculture, providing them with a competitive advantage.

This publication was produced as part of the Periplo Project, a coalition of organizations driven by Fundación Avina that aims to contribute to the creation of a more equitable labor migration system in the agricultural supply chain in Mexico and between the United States and Mexico.
