Verité is looking for an external consultant to conduct an updated econometric analysis using the most recent harvest data to address key inefficiencies in sugarcane harvesting in Mexico. The ongoing research seeks to understand the impact of wages, constraints for quality, and field productivity on worker earnings and overall industry profitability. The goal is to provide actionable recommendations to improve wage structures, optimize harvesting practices, and reduce economic losses in the sector. The consultant will assess the performance of the compensation model pilot implemented during harvest 25-26, identify gaps and unintended effects, and propose data-driven adjustments to improve efficiency, fairness and economic sustainability.

Verité busca contratar a una persona investigadora con experiencia para que acompañe y colabore con el personal de Verité en la realización de un trabajo de campo para un estudio sobre los riesgos laborales, las necesidades y perspectivas de las personas trabajadores, y la capacidad de las instituciones locales para atender dichas necesidades en el sur de Massachusetts y Rhode Island. La persona solicitante debe ser proficiente en K’iche’ y tener amplia experiencia en investigación, incluyendo entrevistas a poblaciones vulnerables. El proyecto se llevará a cabo en un período de diez días entre Julio y Agosto de 2026.

Verité interns do interesting and substantive work and are exposed to the vast world of corporate sustainability and human rights. They contribute to a variety of research projects addressing forced labor, human trafficking, and human rights abuses worldwide. Interns perform tasks such as conducting desk research, updating various databases that Verité maintains, completing various administrative tasks, drafting reports, and proofreading texts. Research interns read and analyze reports published by the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) and become familiar with the work of these entities as well as the work of many different stakeholders. Interns support our work with brands and our large-scale research projects across supply chains, sectors, and commodities.
