These issue briefs are part of a resource suite from the Supply Chain Tracing and Engagement Methodologies (STREAMS) project. STREAMS works at the intersection of traceability and due diligence to help companies, advocates, and government officials use innovative approaches to trace global supply chains and identify and address child labor and forced labor risks.

The issue briefs explain four traceability technologies and their applications in supply chain tracing: digital chain of custody platforms, additive tracers, forensic isotopic testing, and supply chain mapping and transparency platforms.

This resource is designed for retailers and consumer goods companies, suppliers, voluntary sustainability initiatives, civil society organizations, advocates, and governments. The primary audience is any company or voluntary multistakeholder initiative considering implementing a digital chain of custody platform. These resources draw from real-world traceability pilots in cotton supply chains, developed with our core implementing partners Better Cotton and the Responsible Sourcing Network’s Yarn Ethically & Sustainably Sourced Initiative (RSN YESS).
