Fair trade and ethical business expert Jacqui MacDonald is stepping down from her long-time role as a Verité Senior Consultant. Throughout her distinguished career, Jacqui has been a passionate advocate for gender equity and the fair treatment of farmers within global economic systems, including playing a key role in creating the pioneering sourcing strategies at The Body Shop International and as part of Oxfam Canada in the early days of the Fair Trade movement.
At Verité, Jacqui has led our work to build a comprehensive Agricultural Labor Practices Program for Philip Morris International (PMI), addressing child labor and other labor issues within PMI’s global tobacco supply chain. As she says, “I am proud of the changes that we have supported on many farms and the difference that it has made in the lives of farmers, their families and their workers. For me that is what it has been all about.”
That is what it is about for us, too. Thank you, Jacqui, for all that you have taught us, and for the great work you have done. We wish you all the best in this next chapter of your adventure.
